Hawkins Methodist Women is sponsoring a team for the Komen Tyler Race for the Cure again this year.  Great strides have been made in the battle against breast cancer, but much remains to be done before it is conquered.  Up to 75% of the net proceeds of the Race will be used in East Texas for breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatments.  The other 25% will go to the national organization for the Cure Grants Program in the search for a cure. 

The Komen Tyler Race for the Cure will be held on May 10, 2008 (the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend).  This is a wonderful way to celebrate Mother’s Day with your family.  We urge you to participate and ask your husband, daughters, sons, daughters- and/or sons-in law, and grandchildren to join you. 

The fee for the race is $22.00.  Most of us will be walking, not running, in this event.  There is a one-mile course and a 5K (roughly 3 miles) course.  You do not have to actually walk to participate; just fill in an entry form and pay the fee.  Each person who enters will receive a tee shirt; breast cancer survivors will receive two shirts – a survivor shirt and a regular entry shirt.  You may also submit more than the entry fee if you wish to contribute additional money.

Family Field Day Fun

WANTED! A FEW GOOD MEN AND WOMEN to serve as ushers. Ushers are needed for both services in order to have a once a month rotation. What a great way to meet other members or the church, participate in the worship service and provide a valuable “service” to our congregation. Contact Ann Reynolds  or the church office.
