         ....invites you to Pay It Forward!

If you made it to this page you may have received one of our Pay It Forward business cards. ARK, or Acts of Random Kindness, is a project founded by the Youth of First United Methodist Church in Hawkins.  It is a local extension of the global “Pay It Forward” challenge, and is designed to change the world for the better…one person at a time.

Pay it forward or paying it forward refers to repaying the blessings one has received by doing good things for other unrelated people and expecting nothing in return. You never know how one small act of kindness can change someone’s life forever.

    Ideas to Get You Started

Use these ideas to inspire you as you brainstorm ways to Pay It Forward. Remember, every little bit helps, so whether you cooking someone lunch or buy them a car, you are changing lives!

·        Go to the local WalMart and carry groceries to the car for people.  This will give you a chance to explain that you are doing it out of love for God and others.

·       Pump gas for women, the elderly or a stranger at the gas station

·        Volunteer—it costs nothing but means a lot.

·        Write letters to troops serving in Iraq

·        Clean up a neighborhood park

·        Read, cook for, or spend time with the elderly or widowed in your neighborhood

·        Look for opportunities to be nice to a stranger or someone at school or work who is not well-liked.  Step in to help someone who is being bullied or teased.

Have a little money to spend? There are a lot of ways to change the world.

·                            Invite women living in a shelter to a spa day or treat them to a makeover

·                            Buy school supplies for a needy school

·                            Buy coats and hand them out to the homeless

·                            Buy pet food and supplies for the animals at the pound

·                            Search your local newspaper for stories about people in need and find a way to help them

·                            Pick up the tab for a family at a restaurant

·                            Buy food and prepare meals for the elderly in your      neighborhood
